Sometimes you can't get into a flat to inspect its entrance door. You can record the attempt instead.
This is only for flat entrance doors.
Recording it
- Start the inspection on the door as normal.
- Under the inspection details, choose No access.
- Say how you tried to get access: for example, "Knocked twice, no answer. Letter left with the date of the next visit."
What it means
The attempt is saved as a submitted record marked No access, with your name, your certificate number and the time. Under regulation 10, landlords must use their best endeavours to inspect flat entrance doors, and these records are the evidence that you tried.
The door stays due. Its next due date doesn't move, so it's still on the list until someone gets in and completes an inspection.
